BigBlueButton – open source video conferencing tool

BigBlueButton is an open source video/web conferencing tool that mainly focus on usability, modularity, and clean design — both for the user and the developer. it specially designed for universities and colleges to deliver a high-quality learning experience to remote students but you can be used for standard meetings as well.

The application support for multiple users login and allow to share their webcam, slides (PDF and PPT), video, chat, voice (using Asterisk), and desktops at the same time. it’s perfect solution for presentation where user can upload any PDF presentation, office document and keep everyone in sync with their current page, zoom, pan, and see the presenters mouse pointer.

BigBlueButton is an open source project that is built on over fourteen open source components to create an integrated web conferencing system that runs on Mac, Unix, or PC computers.

Here is a three Main user roles in BigBlueButton

• Viewer : Users who have no authority within the conference; their primary role is to view the presentation as well as chat amongst other participants. In a course the viewer would be the students.
• Presenter : Presenter can upload presentations and sharing their desktop
• Moderator : Moderator have all authority to manage web conference. uploading presentations, sharing their desktop and change user types of other users.
